One goal is reached, now I have to cross an even a higher hurdle!
In the beginning of last week, I finally got the message that I had qualified to represent Greece in the FIS Nordic World Championship in Lahti, Finland! It was never for certain that I would get one of the few places, so I had mentally prepared myself for both outcomes. As any athlete with a professional mindset I also prepared myself as if I was going. Now, with only 7 crucial days left I am focusing hard on training, resting and getting those energy levels up.
If you want to know about my tapering program in detail (?) I’d be happy to share it. In contrast to the Falun championships in 2015 I am overloading and de-loading on a thinner foundation. Like my dad said when he coached me in a session last weekend “you lost over a month of training, but just make the very best of it!” He is so right: I am so grateful for the opportunity and I am sure going to make the best of it!
Being the entertainment is something I am quite used to since I was a stage-loving child, but being an entertainment segment in the primetime news on the state channel does not happen everyday to me. The interview was initially 20 minutes, and after editing I got a whole minute and 10 seconds of “national fame”. Among other things, I tell the story of a car ride in Davos with my skiing role model and Queen of Skiing, Marit Bjørgen, a couple of years a go. Thank you to the NRK-cameraman and the best sportsjournalist I know for a nice visit!
HERE is the televised interview. Click forward to 22:37 for the sports news and be prepared for a laugh! The interview also turned up on the first page online.
