Magical light today
The road has been a bumpy one and full of distractions. I have almost been afraid of using the #roadtolahti hashtag in case it wasn’t going to come true, but what you put out there is what you get back.
When you are an athlete you tend to think and live in seasons rather than years, and I’ll describe the two last years as both years and seasons full of hustle and grind in all areas of life: getting married, running my own company, training, traveling with either work or training, and finally moving apartments. Looking back it feels some kind of a miracle (or good karma perhaps) that I had the energy and abilities to make the team this year! However, as former LYN SKI senior coach Stadheim always says: It’s has nothing to do with luck, but everything to do with hard work. He is right!
Now I have about 3 training sessions left until I am on the starting and I have been putting lot of projects on hold to train and prepare. I can’t help but feel super bad about that, and if I hadn’t lost all that that training over in the beginning for the year I might not have had to isolate myself this way, but it’s the only way. So until after Wednesday, Lahti is (almost) my only focus. Otherwise I will regret it. On Wednesday IT’S ON like Donkey kong! There will be nothing left to do than ski my heart out!
Today’s training was an easy ski with speed work. Not much can be done with strength or VO2max now, but neuromuscular adaptations are still very responsive and an important part of the final tapering adaptations. Also preserving your energy levels by eating and hydrating right, and getting tons of sleep goes a long way. So that’s what I’ll be busy doing for the next few days and to night I’m off to Finland.

Have a great Sunday!
