Hello from Finland! Checking in with a little update from the first day in Lahti! After arriving in Lahti 03:30 yesterday, we slept in until 10 and then had a quick breakfast before we went to get our accreditation passes. Actually the breakfast was about to close and they were setting out the lunch food. We are staying in dorms at the Olympic Training Center, and the whole thing reminds me a bit about being in Torsby. The Norwegian nordic combined team and people from the Norwegian CC team is also staying here, as well as other nations competing in ski jumping, nordic combined and cross country skiing.
We have everything we might need here in the Athletes Village. There is food buffets out all the time, WiFi, a comfortable bed and all you can imagine from track and field facilities, basketball-, tennis, badminton courts, to swimming pool and training center. Shuttle busses are taking us on the 30 minute ride to and from the stadion, and they go very often. Being an athlete here is great!
AND I got the new national team gear for the season! I must say I’m liking how I look in the Greek colours. I’ll try the racing suit tomorrow, but just holding it in my hands it feels light and fast! The day has just flown by in all kinds of official team business, but we managed to get in an hour of easy training (or as easy as can be in this course). Maaaan, there are al lot of hills in this track. The track is very much steep up-and-down, but I like how it reminds me of Holmenkollen only with shorter downhills and steeper down hills.
If you want a peak behind the scenes go to my Instagram story, which I for some reason updated more than Shapchat today. I’ll be on both tomorrow!
For those of you who have asked: I’ll ski the 5K classic qual on Wednesday (Eurosport kl 13.00 Norwegian time). Maria Ntanou and I, will ski the classic race and the 4 other girls will ski the skate sprint prologue.
